Shuck Yeah! 401 Oyster Co. Gets a Fresh Look

Hello oyster lovers! Did we ever think our oyster farm would have a blog? Not really, but here we are, making our first blog post. There have been many changes brewing within 401 Oyster Company over the past 6 months or so, and we’re very excited to share them with you.

Get these beauties delivered fresh from our farm to your front door.

The big news is that we’ve stepped up our game with a brand new logo and website, including an online shop where you can purchase oysters to be shipped directly to you overnight. Being able to get our oysters to folks in other states who crave a fresh, delicious oyster is a gamechanger for the business. We’re proud to be one of few Rhode Island oyster farms offering online shellfish orders!

Additionally, all of our new merch (hoodies, tee, and hats) is available for purchase online, as well as all the tools you need to get shuckin’. We have tons of great content coming at you too; everything from recipes & oyster know-hows, to behind the scenes videos and pictures of the farm. We’ll be regularly sending out email newsletters with sales and updates, as well as fresh content for our social media profiles, so make sure to connect with us on all channels to stay in the know.

So without further ado, let’s dive into the details…

The New Website

Our gleaming new website is all about giving you the smoothest, most delightful experience you’ll have for ordering oysters and learning about our farm. Talk about a big wave of improvement compared to our last site. Here's what's on the menu:

  1. Sleek Navigation: We've made it easier than ever to navigate the pages. Find your way through our shop offerings (oysters, tools, merch & more), learn about our oyster farm, and soak up some oyster wisdom—all with a few clicks.

  2. Farm to Front Door: Want to bring our oysters to your doorstep? Our enhanced online store has got you covered. Browse, add to cart, and experience the joy of having our top-shelf oysters delivered direct to you overnight.

  3. Pearls of Widsom: Dive into our blog space, a treasure trove of oyster knowledge, recipes, news and updates from the farm.

The New Logo

Our new logo is the pearl on top of the whole rebrand, setting us apart from the competition. We’ve already received so much positive feedback on the new look!  Here's the lowdown:

We wanted a standout, recognizable icon that held meaning to the farm and our Rhode Island location.

The Danforth anchor is an ode to the Ocean State, with a twist on the state’s iconic symbol. This type of  anchor is used on our farm, so that seemed like a no brainer. Without an anchor, we couldn’t harvest oysters -  it’s quite literally what holds us down. Feels fitting for a symbol of the business.

The new brand colors, inspired by a plate of fresh oysters, add a splash of personality and liveliness that we didn’t have before. Together, the navy and gold feel eye-catching, modern, and a bit regal. A testament to our  #OystersAreKing mindset.

While it’s not a new element for us, we will always love our sexy mermaid graphic. She’s not going anywhere - we’ll continue to use it for merch, and it’s been creatively incorporated throughout the new site.

Our Mission

The overall energy of the rebrand reflects our down to earth, yet seasoned vibe. Growing oysters is badass, and they are shuckin’ cool creatures - they should be presented as such! No matter what else changes, our mission is simple and remains unchanged - produce a premier oyster that brings people together. We strive to grow the best oyster you’ve ever had, and be the one that you tell all your friends about. We have a growth mindset, and we are eager to see where this next chapter takes us.

Credit is Due

Many thanks to Dave and Misi from Lakuna Design for executing our vision with the rebrand, and building out the new website. We’re super excited about the new ventures we can accomplish now that we have the right tools for the job. And a special shoutout to Jessie as the marketing brains behind the rebrand, and taking the lead on all our online content.
