The O.Y.S.T.E.R. Report | August

Field notes on local happenings, must-try recs & oyster-related finds.

O | OUT & ABOUT

Some of our favorite restaurants in Mystic, CT (Oyster Club, Port of Call, Engine Room) are part of the 85th Day Food Community group, who also runs Stone Acres Farm in Stonington. Check out their Summer Nights Farm Dinners that will continue through September for a multi-course menu inspired by the farm, showcasing the very best local and seasonal food.

The annual Rhythm & Roots festival returns to Charlestown Labor Day Weekend, and while we won’t be selling oysters there this year, there will be no shortage of great food and music all three days.

Y | YOU NEED THIS

For the guys: These waders have been a game changer on the farm with steel toe boots that are actually comfortable and supportive.

For the gals: These oyster shell cocktail napkins are a fun addition to your next cocktail party, or just as part of your home decor.

S | SUPPORT LOCAL

Right here in Charlestown you can find Buck-a-Shuck Oysters at Brew Cafe on Friday nights from 5-7PM. The venue (at the old Wilcox Tavern) is also a yoga studio, event space and coffee shop. Many ways to support the team there!

T | TUNE IN

For some oyster facts and to learn about both the history and the natural oyster restoration happening in Barnegat Bay, check out The Oyster Farmers movie on YouTube.

E | EATS & DRINKS

River Bar in Westerly offers great food, ambiance, and of course, a raw bar. They occasionally host special dinner events too - the last one we went to in June was phenomenal. We recommend visiting, and keeping an eye on their event schedule.

We’re excited to be featured in the most recent issue of Yankee Magazine amongst many local Charlestown businesses. Check out the article here!
